For more than a year, the San Francisco 49ers and law enforcement have been common players in the ongoing controversy surrounding protests taking place during the national anthem.

On Thursday, those two sides came together to announce a new initiative with a shared goal in mind.

So far this season, New Orleans is allowing 22.2 points per game, good for just 16th in the league but historically good enough to make it a contender. And during the Saints’ winning streak (which followed an 0-2 start in which they allowed 29 and 36), they’re allowing only 17 points per game.

Asked what the league would do if a team decided to discipline its players, Goodell said he didn’t want to get into hypotheticals. He reiterated that no changes were made to official policy.

The matchup that matters most: Porcello versus the top of the Houston lineup. In Game 1, Alex Bregman and Jose Altuve homered off Sale in the first.
